Employer Notice/SHOP Exchange

EMPLOYER NOTICE- The regulations surrounding the Affordable Care Act require that employers send a notice to all employees informing them of the existence of the Exchange and the ability to purchase health insurance on the Exchange. The original regulation required that this notice be delivered to employees by March, 1 2013. This requirement has been changed to late summer or early fall:

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange has prepared two model templates that employers may use to meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act Implementation Part XI. These templates and instructions on how to use the templates can be found on the Exchange website athttp://exchange.nv.gov/Resources/Employers/

SHOP EXCHANGE- On Friday March 29, 2013 the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) released intentions to delay employer choice and premium aggregation functions in the Federally Facilitated SHOP Exchange until 2015. The ability to delay these function was also extended to all State Based Exchanges and Federal Partnership Exchanges.

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange will continue with implementation of a fully operational SHOP Exchange for Nevada’s small businesses. Our SHOP Exchange will offer employers the ability to choose any combination of available plans to offer to their employees. The employer will be able to pay one single, easy to read bill no matter how many different plans their employees are enrolled in.
