Nevada’s State Exchange Seeks Navigators and Enrollment Assisters
Carson City, NV – The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange issued a Request for Applications (RFA) today for Navigators and Enrollment Assisters. The Exchange has allocated a budget of approximately $2,200,000 in grant funding to establish in person assistance programs for State Fiscal Year 2014.
Navigators are entities introduced by the Affordable Care Act to educate consumers, provide unbiased information and enroll individuals in Qualified Health Plans in the Exchange. Entities eligible to serve as Navigators and Enrollment Assisters include but are not limited to; non-profit organizations, community based organizations, faith based organizations, trade or labor unions, Chambers of Commerce, ranching or farming organizations, schools, school districts, Native American Tribes and City or County agencies.
“Navigators and Enrollment Assisters will provide a grassroots, in person approach to enrolling individuals in health insurance coverage,” commented Jon Hager, Executive Director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange. “This type of in person assistance will target populations that would not typically seek out an insurance agent or broker.”
Potential Navigator and Enrollment Assister organizations may access the grant application and instructions on the Exchange’s website at Exchange.nv.gov under the Resources tab. The Exchange has scheduled two orientation sessions; attendance at one of these sessions is mandatory for grant applicants. Entities that are selected to participate in the programs will be compensated by grant funding from the Exchange and are precluded from receiving direct or indirect compensation from insurance issuers.
